Find the Best Computer Repair Company in Your Neighborhood

Computer repair companies are hard to find. They come in many different shapes and sizes - some are local computer repair shops and some are remote computer support stores.
If your laptop is broken or desktop needs fixing, you have a few options:

-Fix the PC yourself - hopefully it's not too severe a problem

-Find online laptop forums and tech support sites to solve the problem. This is one type of remote support help

-Hire someone to fix it either remotely through phone/internet or in-person

-Take your PC to a local store and have them fix it or get an onsite computer repair shop

Generally those options go from cheap to expensive, from fast to slow, from painful to very painless. It all depends on how much money you want to pay, how important your laptop or desktop is to you, and how fast you want to solve the problem.

It also depends on the nature of your laptop problem - is it a broken hard drive? Bad monitor? Old motherboard? Poor software? Virus? Malware?

Generally, it's safe to assume that if your desktop is slow or frozen, crashes frequently, or you can't turn it on - it's time to take it to a repair company.

If you own a Mac - MacBook, Air, Macbook Pro, iMac, etc - take it to the Apple Store and they'll fix it immediately. Apple Stores are the best electronics technicians that you can find, and generally free or cheap.

If you own a PC - do a Google search for the best repair center. Search for terms like:

-local computer fix

-support technicians local

-area PC diagnostic shop

-laptop inspection company in [your city]

This should get you started. When determining the right store to take your PC, think about the following issues:

-How reputable is the shop?

-Have your friends or family used them before?

-Do they have positive customer referrals?

-Do they have a lot of customers?

These questions should get you thinking about the important issues. With your PC, you can never be too safe - bad repair stores may steal your laptop, steal parts, steal data, or simply just mess up your PC to a worse state than when you brought it in.

These companies are usually very small - with only 2-3 technicians. Often, they specialize in particular models - such as the IBM Thinkpad or Dell Inspiron. Worse, they may not have formal technical training or specialized hardware tools required.

A typical store operates year-to-year, with a meager budget, very few hardware tools, and limited understanding of the electronics industry. They may try to overcharge you and cheat people who don't know much about mobile devices.

Regardless, you need to become better at computers. Just like buying cars, understanding how they work will give you confidence to fix them yourself, or find the right expert technician.

You'll also be better at diagnosing common problems - from hardware to software, from drivers to motherboards.

Get started learning about Apple and Windows today, and never have to take your desktop to another company!
